Here we are again in Wayne's backyard. This time we had beer but we had hoped to shoot in a local bar. Our previous location, The Druid, shut down halfway through last season for renos. Then it reopened as the Urban Tavern and it had a space where we could shoot. However, it has closed down, temporarily it seems, for even more renos. Can't win, it seems. So the backyard. Gord seems to have Doc Brown hair going on which works for him. Comment if you wish.
Here we are in my backyard to discuss the first episode of Amazing Race Canada Season 5. As noted in the video, we love the show, we want it to be great, to succeed and continue, so we're disappointed when it's a bit lacklustre when compared to previous first episodes. Or when the network attempts to attract a specific demographic, which rarely works for TAR (Remember the Family Season. Or the Social Network one?). We hope it will get better and teams will stop trying too hard and just be themselves.
This is our final video recap for the season. And you can tell cause we forget some things. Still, we had fun and glad some of you were watching. Hope to see you for a Season 5, as we note in the end, maybe in the capacity as racers. We're always hopeful that one season we'll be chosen because come on, Gord and Wayne are awesome and should be on the race. Other folks, including some racers, have told us the same thing. Thanks for watching.
We're coming to the end of Season 4 and soon the end of Gord and Wayne video recaps. Some of you cheer and some of you don't. And some of you actually watched use, besides Pedro. But we got a couple of vids here. They're a bit longer overall than usual but we had stuff to say cause it was a big episode. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as we do shooting it.
Here's our video recap for Episode 9 of Season 4. As we noted last week, the Druid is closed. And it was raining outside so we did it old school, like we started years ago, with a shoot at Wayne's house. We had a bit for fun with the edit this week. Next week we might be back at another bar so keep an eye out.
Things have changed in the past couple weeks. Our regular video shoot location, The Druid, has closed and is undergoing rebranding. So we're at Gord's backyard. And Wayne got a haircut. And some much needed counselling, as you'll see in the videos. On top of that we have a special message to one of our fans at the end of video. I know, just like in those Marvel movies, a post-credit scene. A bit of teaser for next season of Amazing Race Canada? Who knows? Comment if you wish.
You'd think that after three+ years of doing these video recaps, we'd have things figured out. Sure we ramble but technically, you'd think it would be old hat. Not so much. After taping an entire recap at the Druid, Gord went to check the camera and realized that the memory card was full and the taping stopped somewhere around the 7 minute mark. Rookie mistake. So we had to figure out where we were and then start from there. But we finally did but you can probably tell by how we're speaking a bit faster in the second video, mostly cause we're hungry and we want to get it done.
Anyway, Wayne sings cause Amy and Frankie asked him to, plus there's some discussion about a shirtless John A., and other race related stuff. Comment if you wish.
After two weeks away, we're back with videos here at Gord and Wayne HQ. Wayne had a nice family holiday in South Africa, jumped off a cliff with his kid like they do in TAR. Gord put AC in his house and then the weather got cold. Here we discuss the episode but also freely admit we are not experts on professional lesbian welders, celebrate how Amy and Frankie brought beer to the mat and wonder if we would U-Turn Julie and Lowell. Looks like Wayne is the evil one in this duo (like we all didn't know that already). Anyway, we're a bit out of practice and the beer was only okay (PBR on sale for us hipsters) but we hope you enjoy it. Leave a comment if you do. Or not. Whatever.
Here we are back at the Druid talking about Episode 3 of Season 4. Gord does most of the talking cause Wayne has cold. Also, Gord likes to talk. Not going to say much but this will be our last video for 2 weeks cause Wayne's going on safari with his family in South Africa. He's excited. Gord will be left alone but if he can talk someone into joining him, maybe you'll see a video.
As you will notice, we are not in the Druid this time. There was a EuroCup Semi Final starting around the same time we normally go in, and the Druid is a major location for all major footie viewing. There would have been way too many people for us to block off a space and shoot. So we went back to one of our earlier video locations, Gord's backyard. We still have beer and still do our thing.
Next week we may be at the Druid but we may get a chance to shoot a recap following a viewing party with Joel and Ashley at the River Cree Casino in Enoch. Hope you enjoy our videos this week. Wayne has a theory about why people were taking buses instead of driving Chevy trucks, Gord agrees the theory makes sense and we talk about a team that's become our favourites. If you want to comment, please do so, but be nice.
