Sindy is glad she's safe, Pilar is ticked she's on the block and can't figure out why Sindy put her there, and Risha is stressing out. All this and it's only the first night. Risha's laying on the "flirt card" a little too heavily and it comes across a little too desperate.
Nobody's happy they have nothing in the house other than a pail of slop and some tins to eat it out of. Such a great way to begin their first night as they find areas of the floor to claim. Funny to watch Kevin end the day cuddled up with Johnny, who is obviously crushing on him. While everyone else is claiming their floor space Sindy goes to bond a little with Risha as her BFFN (Best Friend For Now), just in case she stays in the house.
Day 2 dawns and everybody is hungry, sore and whiney. What a surprise. I don't think any of these people have ever slept on a floor before, except maybe Bruno because once you have kids that tends to happen on occasion.
Arisa shows up on screen in the livingroom, as she's prone to do, to wake the houseguests and tells them how they can retrieve the numbers needed to open the vault that holds all their stuff. They go out into the yard to find five giant balloons. Inside each balloon is a number for the code. All they have to do is hold each balloon in the air for five hours each before popping it to get the code.
Doing that one at a time will take at least 25 hours but nobody seems to figure out that they could hold all the balloons at once for just five hours if they do it in groups of three. I don't recall them being told they had to do it one at a time but maybe I missed that. Maybe they do need to do them separately.
Sindy pulls the same routine with Pilar as she did with Risha, but Pilar knows she's being played. It's all about the social game in Big Brother more than it is about stamina or skills. If everybody loves you you'll go far but the minute they see a weakness they pounce like vultures on a carcass.
Kevin gets called to the Diary Roomwhere he's offered a bribe of $1,000 to sabotage the challenge. Kevin convinces himself that Canada will be on his side so he decides to do it. He wanders about and comes up with a plan to pop the balloon with an earring which he grabbed from the kitchen. He sits down after three hours and shortly thereafter "POP" goes the balloon.
Jordan decides he needs to build an alliance with Zach and coincidentally Zach has the same idea. They could balance each other well in the game if they can keep their alliance quiet. So far that's the plan but we'll see how long it lasts.
Over at the hot tub Risha takes off her top and lowers herself into the water. The guys are all pretending to look elsewhere while the girls are feeling a bit threatened. Not sure why but for some reason they seem to see the housecougar as competition for their prospective mates. Whatever.
Sarah has figured out that Kevin may be responsible for the balloon incident and goes to Brittnee to discuss it. Now their both suspicious of Kevin, and rightly so, but neither one of them is going to confront him on it . . . for now.
The houseguests finally get all the balloons and now they just need to figure out which of the 125 combinations will open the vault. First try, access denied . . . Second try, access denied . . . Again and again and again, access denied. It doesn't help that they're just randomly plugging in numbers rather than working it out sequentially.
They all feel like they'll never get their stuff after spending 30 hours holding up those damn balloons. Johnny decides he needs to step back and while he recuperates Kevin goes over and gives him a little back rub. Zach decides to step up and opens the vault on his first try.
They're not done yet though. Now they need to get everything in place in under 45 minutes to win a "welcome to the neighborhood" party. The heavy stuff gets hauled out first and off it goes to the correct rooms, then they need to make the beds and double check their map. With 15 young people it moves pretty quickly.
After their welcome drinks it's yoga time out in the yard and Zach keeps getting sidetracked watching Ashley do her downward dog. Meanwhile Risha is inside with Sindy avoiding the yoga mats and bitching about Pilar doing nothing to keep herself in the house while she's fighting to stay. Actually all she's been doing is flirting, flashing and bitching but I guess you use what you know. All that effort only to find out that nobody in the house even has a say in the first eviction is really going to tick off the cougar.
It's time for the big reveal now that everyone has their stuff back. Risha and Pilar are told to head off to the vault where they're locked inside. Both women are told to pick up their key and open their safety deposit box and take their sealed envelopes back to the living room. They head back to the eviction couch and Arisa reveals that . . . the houseguests are not going to have a vote in who to evict because Canada has been doing that for the past 24 hours. Risha does not look impressed to find out all her flirting was for naught and the results of who stays and who goes are hidden inside their envelopes.
This is a big part of what Wayne hates about Big Brother, . . . It doesn't matter how well you play, or how much you know, . . . it just comes down to a popularity vote that you have no control over. Especially when it's left up to the viewers to decide. I tend to agree with him on that part but the social game does help determine the votes.
Risha looks in shock while Pilar looks amused as its time to open those envelopes. They open their envelopes and Risha has been evicted from the house. I guess Canada doesn't really like Cougars. Risha gathers her stuff, gets a few hugs, and heads out to meet Arisa.
Arisa asks her how she feels and Risha says she didn't want to leave the house, especially first. Arisa lets her know it was a really close vote and asks her what she wants Canada to know. Risha says she wants Canada to know that you can't be fake going into the house and that she can only be herself and that's how she played the game from the start.
Time for another twist as Arisa reveals to Risha that there may be a way that she can reenter the house but that's all she can say. Well, at least that put a smile back on Risha's face. Risha goes back into sequester as she unknowingly waits for the next five evictees to join her before they'll have a challenge to complete in order to get back in the house. She's still in this.
Back in the house it's TI me for the HoH competition: Wall to Wall. Each houseguest has to step up onto a very small platform attached to a clear wall and remain standing as long as possible. Simple as that. Last person standing will become the new HoH and the first eight people to fall will be part of the first Have Not competition.
Now we get to wait until Sunday to see the results. I guess it depends on whether anyone actually reads my BBCan reviews as to whether I'll continue to do them or not. Feel free to send comments and I'll get back to you. See you Sunday, or Wednesday for my next Survivor review. Is it April 3rd yet?
