Pierre and Michel Forget co-own a meatpacking company, but were also competitive freestyle skiers back in the day. So they have that competitive spirit and could be physically tough (the meatpacking life is hard. Really. I'm not joking). But finances forced Michel to quit skiing and go to work while his brother continued on to win a World Cup title. So there might be some of that "Mom always liked you best" baggage.
Twins are always a tough team, they have a bond that other teams don't. Although last year's twin team had difficulty in the first leg and became the first team eliminated. So you never know. But what I'm expecting is that they will argue from time to time.
Pierre says he is positive, funny and charming and has no fears. Michel says he is positive, fearless and charming but is afraid of spiders (I think Michel needs to look up the term fearless). And at 42, these guys are, so far, the oldest team in the bunch. 42? That's not really old.
These guys could be the gay version of Jet and Dave, fun and silly, but without the huge pectorals. And Jet and Dave are the team The Bartenders say they related to the most. (Okay, side note, was it just me or did anyone think Jet and Dave were a couple in the first episode or two?)
Anyway, one of Ryan's strengths is public speaking (of course cause he's a comic) while one of Rob's is being kind. I'm not sure how those strengths will help in the tasks, although they could come in handy when dealing with the other teams and members of the public they'll encounter during the race. We also have another dude afraid of spiders (that's three so far, I believe) while Rob's biggest fear is of Reveinka, which is not some kind of spider but rather Ryan's drag queen persona. Their biggest weakness is getting lost, which is the worse kind of weakness to have on the race.
Since this is the first Amazing Race Canada team from that fair city, they are, for now, the Torontonians. Laura works in media development (whatever that means) while Jackie is a musician, recently appearing in the house band for the Country Music Reality Show Karaoke Star. She's also part of a cover band that features former members of Moist and the Killer Dwarfs (I loved the Killer Drawfs, they were a cheesy Cancon hair band from the 80s).
The two are, in a sense, high school sweethearts, meeting as camp counsellors as teenagers, forming a friendship that later turned into a lifelong commitment. Sweet. Their bio says they are humanitarians who love to find peace in helping others, although helping others too much can backfire during the race. They also say unpredictable and unknown situations bring a high level of stress to them. And that's not good either. Still, these two could be the team that everyone underestimates. It's happened before.
So that's it for today. Come back Friday to see who will be the final two teams and what the big surprise is for Season 2. I'm predicting that along with the Olympians, there will be at least one more "celebrity" team. I know some of the announced teams have some very minor fame, but I think Friday will reveal a team with a bit more celebrity.
