So teams remain in Marrakesh for the start of this leg, having to find a stable in order to grab some hay, take it to another stable and then take a carriage ride back into the square, feed the horse and then move on. The Cyclists are first off and it takes them a bit to find a cab that knows where he's going. This allow the Surfers to get ahead but not by much. Other teams head out and split into two groups: those who realize the stable is far away and you need a cab; and those who think they can walk or don't get good directions. Pretty much, it's the Scientists, the Sweethearts and the Flight Attendants who walk for a long time.
The Surfer get to the stable and though Adam carries the hay to the other stable, Bethany hauls the heavy bags up to the roof with her one arm and still wearing her backpack. A beast, I tell you, she's a beast. Then apples grabbed and they take nice romantic carriage ride back to the square in which they started. And then run into the Scientists who are still trying to figure out where they must go. The Surfers help them (why not cause they are so far ahead) so Scientists get into a cab. By this time, most of the teams are loading hay. As I watch the Wrestlers carry their bags, I wonder to myself if one of them would do some wrestling move on it. I mean why not, it's just asking for it. And as if she was reading my mind (in some kind of space time continuum phase kind of thing), Brooke body slams her back followed by an excellent elbow smash.
And then the last three (mentioned previously) figure out the cab bit but can't find the first stable for the hay. The Scientists think they do and deliver someone's bags of hay but nope, not from the marked stable. The flag for that stable looks a little ragged so not sure how hard it is to find but since most of the other teams did, it can't be that hard. The Flight Attendants do and then tell the Sweethearts where the hay is located if the Sweethearts tell them where the hay is to be delivered. The Scientists are just behind, still looking for the original location.
Meanwhile, the next clue is get into a Ford and find a pottery stand for the next clue. And this is why I wouldn't do the Amazing Race with my wife. She's fantastic but she likes to linger and take in sights. So do I, but only in vacation. I'd be okay just seeing something quickly on the race and moving on. It would drive her crazy because she couldn't linger. And she loves pottery and that pottery spot would be paradise for her. She could stay there for days looking for pieces to buy and take back.
Anyway, it's the Cyclists that get to the clue first. Detour: Camp or Cream. In Camp, teams have to make up a Bedouin style tent. In Cream, teams have to milk a goat then use that milk to make butter. Working with animals isn't really our kind of thing so I think Gord and I would do Camp. Seemed more fun as well. The Dentists arrive second, quickly followed by the Surfers and then the Wrestlers. The final three teams are just getting their clues.
The Sweethearts find the pottery and the clue but the other two teams are lost. Especially the Flight Attendants who, in an effort to keep team harmony, don't speak up when they think they are lost. Gotta find a balance here in communication. Standing up and making a suggestion that you might be going the wrong way shouldn't turn into a fight every time.
Although the Cyclists first take Cream, they learn it will take 45 minutes to churn the butter (not counting catching the goats and milking them). So they switch. The Surfers don't follow suit. After a bit the Cyclists switch again. Never really a good idea. Especially since the Dentists get done before any of the butter churners. The Flight Attendants are still lost, there's some nice singing and Robbie has to learn the difference between male and female goats (Tip #1: Male goats don't give milk) The next clue say drive to Terres Amanar.
And oh man, when the Dentists get there, I know Gord and I might fight over the next task, the Roadblock. You have to navigate a series of high bridges and ziplines, while solving a puzzle in the middle. But then again, Gord isn'y overly fond of too many height so I could convince him to let me do this one. Totally awesome. If they let me, I'd be hanging upside done as I zip. Misti jumps in, in a manner of speaking. Nice of Jim to say good things about her as she walks across. Some folks may not like the Dentists but Jim doesn't say bad things about his wife, even when the mistake is hers, he always "we made a mistake" not "she did."
Yep, the tent task was the better choice because the Sweethearts, who arrived much later than much of the Cream teams, get done. And go figure, Maya is doing her PhD on butter so knows the technique. Go science. The Dentists get done off to the Pitstop at Casbah D'if. Oh, I thought they were going to head to Italy on this leg. Guess not.
But man, Bethany shows more of her Beast by doing the Zipline Roadblock with one arm, not slowing, walking like it's a day in the park. Amazing stuff. No wonder she's one of my daughter's heroes. And science does pay off because just after the Cyclists get enough butter, so do the Scientists ahead of the Wrestlers. Off to Zip, just as the Flight Attendants show up. Robbie's happy cause he thought they were in last place. Still, the Wrestlers have failed to impress this entire race. Meanwhile, Misti and Jim are back in first place and win a trip to Brazil.
Further meanwhile, the Scientist breeze by the Roadblock, missing the turn. The Wrestlers don't. But Brooke, for being a tough wrestler, whines here way across the entire bridge. Come on, Bethany went across that with one hand, get over it. And she can't seem to figure what she's supposed to do with the puzzle. Maybe she didn't read the clue; should have brought it with her. Again, still not impressed by the Wrestlers. They aren't even good at the physical stuff. Maya shows up, starts working on her puzzle, while Brooke still whines. Maya offers moral support but doesn't offer actual help. Still, Brooke gets done first. And pretty much we know what happens by now. Despite the propensity of the Scientists to get lost, it's already over for the Flight Attendants. They are just too far behind.
Yep, all the teams are checked in and there's all this filler about their relationship but their days were numbered after the Copenhagen leg. Can't freak out like that and move forward. Next week, well, they don't talk about next week but show some scenes from the next half. Looks like a bunch of tasks that we've seen before, either on this race or other versions. But overall, Season 25 has been pretty good.
