First off, I forgot to thank the folks at Bell Media/CTV, who have been so kind and great to Gord and I. Giving access to their press room for a couple of hosers like us is a fantastic way to help build your brand and promote the Amazing Race Canada. Shows that they care about the fans of the show. Anyway, on with the next round of teams.
After 2 seasons, we finally have a team from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Dana Hayward and Amanda Johnston are two cops from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, both living in the small town of Wabash. If you are counting that's four cops so far as racers in three seasons of TAR Canada. They are both young at 23 and both list target shooting as one of their strengths. (I gotta stop using the word both.) That will help if they have a shooting task like Season 2 in the Yukon. But we all recall Pete, who was a hunting guide and missed several shots; and Sukhi, who never shot a gun in her life and shot five out of six on her first try. I know I'll have trouble remembering which is Amanda and which is Dana. I have a terrible visual memory, especially with teams who have similar looks, so I'll probably need my kid to help me determine which one is which. I'll probably have this same problem with the Montani brothers from Hamilton. Heck, I'll have this problem with any team with racers of the same gender. Still, Dana and Amanda look to be a strong team although Amanda states her short term memory is one of her strengths, while Dana says Amanda's forgetfulness is her main weakness. Interesting. We'll see how that plays out.
And that's the halfway mark for the teams. Yep, there are 12 teams this year, one more than last Season, three more than Season 1 (I think that's right). If you're counting, we got three sets of couples, two sets of siblings, a pair of co-workers, four mixed gender teams, two male teams and one female team. One team from Quebec, two teams from the Maritimes (sort of, one of these teams lives in TO), three teams from the southern Ontario area and no team originating west of Hamilton. That should change (I hope) when we see the rest of the teams announced over the next two days.
