With a title like that you're all assuming there's something to do with sausage on this leg, but not so fast readers. Four teams remain as they start the next leg and with Ally & Ashley eliminated on the last leg it's time for Leo & Jamal to step up their game and focus on winning. Which wouldn't be a problem for Wayne and I if we're racing in Amazing Race Canada season two as we wouldn't have aligned ourselves with the girls in the first place. Well, maybe.
Teams are still in Indonesia and will be leaving the observatory with the rising sun. Leo & Jamal will depart first at 7:25am for breakfast, the first task of the day, an Indonesian delicacy, grilled cobra. Tim & Marie are a minute behind them at 7:26 and Jason & Amy leave at 7:40. That leaves Travis & Nicole in last place at 7:42am.
I think Marie is going to have a tough job with this one, especially when Leo & Jamal are finding it difficult. Of course it doesn't help when Tim & Marie have arrived at the wrong location. When Jason & Amy arrive, Jamal tells them that Tim & Marie ate and ran but not so much since they're still wandering around wherever they are when Travis & Nicole arrive. Leo & Jamal finished their breakfast first and moved on to . . .
The Kawah Domas Crater, for this week's Roadblock; hard boil eggs in a steaming pool on an active volcano. A team member needs to gather 60 eggs, then ride on a scooter to the entry to the crater, run down a long winding path, load the eggs in their basket and boil those eggs to hardboiled. Jamal, Jason and Travis were doing the task while Amy and Nicole asked Leo how far ahead Tim & Marie were. When he was stalling and stammering it was pretty obvious he lied to them. They kinda figured that though.
Speaking of which, Tim & Marie finally located the right building for breakfast and Marie was hoping for some weird vegetable. Not so much, Pinky. This could be the end of Tim & Marie if she doesn't get over her food attitude and suck it up. Besides, according to Travis, cobra tastes like chicken. While boiling in the pool Jamal admits to the boys that he and Leo lied about Tim & Marie eating and running. As they finished boiling their eggs, Marie had managed to choke down her cobra and she and Tim were off.
As they head for the volcano Tim complains about having a cobra scale in his tooth. Can't be any worse than a popcorn husk. Meanwhile the boys are having their eggs checked, one at a time, to make sure they're all hardboiled. Jason only had six good ones, Travis had none, and Jamal thought he was really close but not close enough as he only had three. Back they went to boil more eggs as Tim & Marie finally arrived and Marie chose to boil the eggs, even though she hasn't a clue how. Travis and Jason both hit 20 minutes and were heading back, leaving Jamal to finish up.
The guys feel good about their second set of eggs, and well they should. Jason's are good and he gets the next clue for this week's Detour . . . Paint Your Partner; paint your partner up as an Indonesian bride to match the model . . . Or . . . Turn Over A New Leaf; dress up as a traditional worker and search a field for a pair of shears (I think they were shears) to return to the foreman. Both Jason & Amy and Travis & Nicole chose Paint Your Partner, which is what Wayne and I would probably have chosen, while Leo & Jamal chose to Turn Over A New Leaf. Well it's about time, but somehow I doubt it.
Marie admits, she's 29 years old and has no idea how to boil an egg. I don't know which is more interesting, that she doesn't know how to boil an egg or that she reveals how old she is. Probably wouldn't have done that with the guys around. This is just not her leg.
Jason & Amy arrive just ahead of Travis & Nicole to apply makeup to each other and Jason and Travis realize they'll need to shave to put their makeup on. Good thing the Beardos didn't get that far. Of course, if they had they could just do the other side of the Detour with the Afghanimals.
And there they are now, Leo & Jamal dressed up as farm workers, complete with the wide straw hats, hitting the fields as Marie ran up to check her eggs. Tim was a little concerned about this task because boiling eggs requires patience and Marie's not exactly big on that. However, he was so glad that everything Marie cooks, she overcooks, because she got all her eggs hardboiled on the first try. Off they go to Paint Their Partner.
Outstanding in his field (okay, that was bad) Jamal thinks he's found what they need when he finds a white flag on a stick. I don't think so Jamal. He even asked one of the women in the field if that was what they used and she looked at him like he was some kind of nut. Good assessment on her part.
Tim & Marie arrive at their side of the detour to find the ugliest drag queens they've ever seen. Tim comes to the same realization as Travis and Jason and goes in to shave. On the upside, it's good to get caught up to the other teams. Leo & Jamal however have fallen behind and finally decide to switch sides. I suppose if you haven't a clue what you're looking for you may as well, but that's never been a good decision for teams in the past.
When the Afghanimals arrive at the other side of the detour they figure "no problem" until they realize they need to shave. No way, man. Back they go to the fields. See, bad decision to switch.
Jason & Amy have completed their makeup and received their next clue. Locate and descend 500 steps to the bottom of the Dimahi Waterfall to the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. It's pretty easy to find for their cab driver and Jason & Amy are Team #1. They also win a six night stay at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico and get to swim with dolphins. In my experience it's more of a float with dolphins while they swim around you, but it's still fun.
Travis and Nicole weren't good enough on their first attempt and neither were Tim & Marie, but on their second attempt Marie realize dit's all the smudges and after cleaning those off they received their next clue. It took awhile, but Travis finally realized the same thing and they were right behind the others.
Back in the field, Leo & Jamal finally found the shears and headed for the Pit Stop. It's now a race for the waterfall as Tim & Marie and Travis & Nicole's taxis jockeyed for position to get there first. Everyone running down the waterfall was a recipe for disaster but they all made it without any injuries. Tim & Marie were Team #2, and Travis & Nicole were right behind them for Team #3. Phil said he thought Jason looked bad but Travis looked like an angry showgirl. Or maybe he was talking about Tim, or both.
When Leo & Jamal finally arrived they were the last team, after spending over 5 hours in the field. Phil asked if they felt like they'd used up all their lives on the U-Turns before telling them they had one life left as this was a non-elimination leg. These two have just become even luckier than the Canadian Timmies.
Next week is the two hour finale to see who will cross the finish line first. I'm hoping for Jason & Amy but all four teams have played really well. Sure there's been some lying, and some cab stealing, and some assembly mistakes . . . Oh wait, that was the other three teams. See you all next week for the finale.
