Meanwhile, a little bit of role reversal has Ciera informing her mother that she needs to vote out Katie if she doesn't win immunity, but Ciera knows that for her to win the game her mom needs to go, and soon.
Arriving at Redemption Island Arena, Aras, Vytas and Tina are ready for today's duel; use a grappling hook attached to a rope to retrieve three bags in order to get a ball, then take the ball direct it through a maze . . . first two stay in the game, loser is out of the game.
Tina gets her bag straight off, just missed her second toss but gets her third, and then gets her last bag . . . four tosses to get all three bags. While the brothers have just gotten their second bags, Tina is already halfway through the maze. Vytas finally gets his last bag and then Aras gets his so they're all on the maze.
Aras dropped his ball through a hole and needed to start over. Tina gets all the way to the end and then, just as she's trying to roll the all into place, she lost the ball through a hole. Vytas wins the first maze and stays alive on Redemption Island. It's down to Aras and Tina, who has caught up quickly and has passed Aras on the maze. A little extra concentration and Tina wins the second maze. It was close but Aras is out of the game.
Jeff asks if Aras and Vytas have been able to mend some of their animosity and Aras admits they've managed to become closer. He's not happy he's out, but he's proud of his brother and how he's played the game and now Aras is the first member of the jury. Having finished first Vytas gets to decide who gets the clue to the hidden immunity idol and he decides that the one who needs it the most is Katie. This is the first time that someone has actually kept the clue rather than burning it . . . and it's about time. If anyone needs it, it's Katie.
Katie goes out looking for the idol but it's kind of a lost cause as the clue leads her to the location of the idol Tyson already has. Tyson isn't really concerned either because he's more worried about what his next move needs to be in order to maintain control without looking like a dictator. It's a fine balance he seems to have finally figured out. Perhaps third time's the charm.
Tyson takes the guys aside and gives them their marching orders to vote out Laura before she and Ciera manipulate more votes. Ciera knows that allying with her mother isn't going to get her further in the game because the four guys are too strong to go against. Ciera finally takes her mom aside and tells her what she feels and how she sees it playing out. If it gets to final six she knows that her mom would have to go and then she'd go, or vice versa, which wouldn't get either of them to the end.
As Laura says, their relationship is morphing and now she is having to trust her daughter's advice. Laura's really proud of Ciera's growth and proud of how she's playing the game but as a player she's not quite as pleased. The next morning Katie gets up to find the idol and Laura decides to get up and help her as they both need that idol.
Tyson knows he's the biggest threat, kind of like the big bad wolf, but he needs to do some damage control and takes Ciera aside for a heads up. He gives her the scenario as he sees it and she agrees with him even if it means voting out her mother. Not like there's a lot of choice mind you, if she disagrees she could be next.
Time for the immunity challenge . . . players are standing on a platform over the water holding onto a rope and leaning back over the water, every five minutes you hang a little further. Last person standing also wins a hamburger feast, but it won't be Hayden who drops out first, followed immediately by Caleb.
Time to move down the rope and Gervase falls next, then Ciera. Four left, but then Katie goes and she's followed by Laura. It's up to Tyson or Monica and with a big splash by Tyson, Monica wins her second individual immunity.
Hot dogs, cheeseburgers, soda . . . all for Monica and one other player of her choice, but she counters Jeff's offer with one of her own. She'll give up the reward if the other seven can partake of it instead. Jeff asks Caleb if he thinks it's a gesture of friendship or a political move. Caleb feels it may be a little of both but because Monica is a mom he feels it's from her heart. So Jeff agrees and Monica switches places with the others who enjoy the food while she enjoys her immunity. Great for Monica, not so much for Laura or Katie.
That snake certainly seems to like hanging around camp, and the players finally see it as they re-enter the camp. They're all thanking Monica for the food who is all humble about it. It's easy to be humble with an immunity necklace around your neck. While Katie and Ciera are hanging out in the hammocks, Katie says she's going to play the idol but Ciera says she knows that she doesn't have it because she found it. Katie folds pretty quickly and now Ciera steps up her game and goes to her alliance to vote Katie out but keep one vote on Laura just in case.
Everyone seems to be on board with that but Tyson, on the other hand, thinks they need to stick with the plan to vote out Laura. Unfortunately that's not the way Caleb thinks as he feels Katie's been floating along. Time to head out to Tribal.
Aras enters across from the players to listen to Tribal as the first jury member. Jeff points out that the only pair left is Ciera and Laura, but Caleb defends their position in the game because they're both so competitive. Hayden still feels their bond may be a threat, and now Laura starts pointing out the benefits to keeping the pair. Ciera's sitting there thinking "shut up mom" but she stays quiet. It's a less argumentative Tribal than usual. Time to vote . . .
Nobody plays a hidden idol so Jeff gets right to it . . . Laura, Katie, Laura, Laura, Laura. Laura (mom). For the second time this season, Laura is sent back to Redemption Island and the pairs are done as the seven individual players head back to camp. Laura gives Ciera a big hug and says she'll be back for her, and I believe her. Laura is one tough competitor.
Hayden finally makes a move next week when he rallies the troops to the fact that Tyson has been running things for too long and it's time for a blindside. Might be time to play that idol. Looking forward to next week's duel and the possible blindside. See you all right back here after the show.
