Wow. Can't believe we're already on Episode 10. Only two more episodes left and that will be it for Season 2 of Amazing Race Canada. Not sure if we'll continue to do recaps for the US Amazing Race; we'll have to see. But this week's was fun, especially when the video card ran out of memory and we had to finish up. Also, there was a visit from Neo the Cat. Wayne's cats haven't visited much in this Canadian season, mostly because we did some of the videos either at Gord's house. And the ones we did do at Wayne's they were outside cause the weather was warm. But with cooler weather back, they are, well at least Neo was, keen to be part of our video process. Since there was no elimination interviews today, we actually had time to get our video recorded and then edited in good time. Also, it's the second day of school so Gord and Wayne don't have kids hassling us for food, entertainment, water, stuff like that. Up to the teachers now cause lunches were packed. Maybe that's why we're sort of in better control today. Or maybe you think we're not. Whatever. Watch the video, comment later if you want, tell your friends if you like us. We're pretty much on time with our video today and we're a little more subdued than usual. Maybe it's because it's the last week before school and we're dealing with school supplies, registration and all the mayhem that comes with the end of summer. Next week, we might be a bit looser because we don't have any kids to deal with during the day. It's the typical thing: in June we can't wait for the end of the school year so we can get rid of the routine, sleep in and let the kids figured out their lives. But by the time the end of August comes around, we want the routine back, we don't mind getting up early if we can have the days to ourselves. Life of a stay-at-home dad (or any other parent for that matter) But here ya go, our view of the drama between the Francophones and the leg in the city of lights and love. Sorry about the wind and noise, there's a lot of construction in Wayne's neighbourhood. That doesn't explain the wind but whatever... Hey, Gord is back. Or is he? Was that just a doppelgänger last week or the actual Gord himself? The question will be answered, not just in the narrative of the video but in the mirror behind us. Yeah, we're not professional videographers but so what? We do what we can on the budget that we have; which is nothing save for our time. Anyway, here's our recap of Episode 7 with the return of the outtake at the end. If you have any comments, please shout them out. If you want to talk about Amazing Race Canada and other Amazing Race stuff with like-minded folks, head over to the Amazing Race 24/7 Facebook page. We really weren't going to do a video today but you know how life works. Gord went to Vancouver on a vacation with his family, but then he showed up at my house this morning and said, "Let's shoot." So we did. However, you may notice that Gord looks a little different today, not sure what it was, maybe the fact that Vancouver is at sea-level and the quick trip to a higher altitude affected him. And he made me do most of the talking. But whatever, the video is done, out into the world and that's all we can expect. Okay, we'll admit to being a little punchy for this one. Both of us are suffering from lack of sleep — both of us stayed up to due to work (different projects), but Wayne's kid also had a nightmare last night and came into the bed. Life of a stay-at-home dad. Still, we had plenty of fun although the original video was our longest ever, about 15 minutes of rough footage. In case you haven't read any of our previous posts, we shoot these things on the fly, setting up a camera in Gord's deck (sometimes Wayne's living room), hit record and let the chips fall where they land. We do our best to cover as much of the key episodic events but sometimes we miss a few details. Every so often, Gord suggests we have notes but we always sound wooden when we prepare. This way you pretty see the authentic Gord and Wayne, although if you hang around us much longer than the 6-7 minutes the video provides, things can get even more interesting. Again, if you have comments, let them fly. Teams move onto Macau and we discuss the events. Well, we don't discuss everything, like what the Rex wearing and whether the Olympians will continue to take all the first places in the race (we'll probably do that one later), but we do give a sense of what we thing. Along with our Gord and Wayne attitude. You may note the sunglasses (I hope you note the sunglasses cause they are pretty obvious) but just because it was quite bright and hot today in good ole Edmonton. If you have any comments or wish to pass this one to your friends, please do so. Also, if you're a fan of Amazing Race Canada and all the other Amazing Races, join the Amazing Race 24/7 Facebook group. Nice bunch of knowledgeable people in the group include some former and present racers. Summer is busy here at Gord and Wayne HQ so our video is a day late. Wayne had to take his kid to K-Days and though he won a prize or two (the Guess-Your-Age dude missed Wayne's age by six years, to the lower, not the higher), it was a long day of rides, heat and deep fried good. Sort of like the Amazing Race but with kids (See Season 8 TAR). So we shot the video on Thursday but since there's major street construction going on in Wayne's neighbourhood, we did get interrupted a number of times; hence more edits. Again, we're a little late for the video. It's the fallout from the birthday sleepover at Wayne's house. But we still managed to meet at Gord's, crack open a couple of beers and do our video recap. If you got comments, leave 'em. After months of waiting, Amazing Race Canada is back with Season 2. This show is where Gord and Wayne started last year and we're glad to be back this year. Below is our first video recap for Episode 1. In fact it's our first video recap for Amazing Race Canada. We only started doing this for Amazing Race's All Star Season. Since it's summer and the weather is awesome, we've moved to Gord's backyard. He's got a nice gazebo which is good even if it rains. Although there are a few mosquitoes. Or at least one. |
