Our friends Kurt and Shelly are back with their recap with of Episode 2 of Season 5 of Amazing Race Canada. They're much nicer than Gord and Wayne, but they're young, in their 40s while Gord and Wayne are old and grumpy. And we've been nice before. It all depends on the season.
Our good friends and fellow Amazing Race fans Kurt and Shelly decided to do their own recap videos. They posted it on YouTube so Gord and Wayne HQ asked if we could put it up on our blog. They said yes. Well Kurt, said yes. Although Shelly is the smart one and would probably say yes. Hope this becomes a regular addition to the blog. ,Man, I thought it would be several, several months before we posted anything new here at Gord and Wayne HQ, but when BellMedia and TAR Canada asked if we would interview Alain and Audrey, the engaged couple from TAR Canada Season 2, we couldn't say no. We were fans of the couple from Montreal, they were good-looking so nice to watch but they also had great personality and nice relationship. And man, things have surely changed for them. They are still engaged but are now the parents of a one-year-old daughter, and Alain had a great year as an actor appearing as a major character in the Hollywood blockbuster The Suicide Squad. He's going to be shooting another movie (he's unable to reveals the details at the moment) in LA in the next couple of months. So they'll moving down there for that. But only for the shooting. Good for them. They're also hosting one of four TAR Canada related shows, the Amazing Race Canada Audition Specials on BellFibe Channel 1. Their show was shot in Montreal but all the shows feature various TAR Canada auditions from teams that did not make it on the show. The weird, wacky and strange ones although I'm not sure any of our videos will be included. Then again, we have no idea, none of the people featured in these auditions have any idea they will be part of the show, so you better watch just in case. They also offered a couple of tips on applying for Season 5 of TAR Canada. ICYMI, applications opened on Oct. 12 and will stay open until Dec. 1. Check it out here. Alain and Audrey, especially famous actor Alain, expressed a desire to see Gord and Wayne on Season 5. Something like "if you guys were on the show, I would watch every episode." So there you have it, another TAR Canada team wishing to see our mugs on one of Canada's most popular shows of all time. And we will apply, no doubt about that. But enough about us, click on their names, Alain and Audrey, to hear the interview on Soundcloud. This is our final interview and probably our final blog post for Amazing Race Canada Season 4. It's an interview with the winners, Steph and Kristen. Very nice interview with some interesting tidbits about which team they had a short showmance with and a couple of tips for those of you who desire to get on the Amazing Race Canada. Thanks to all of you for tuning it. Special thanks for those at CTV/Bell Media especially Anna, Jessica and Tonia for being there for Gord and Wayne. And to Mike Bickerton and all the teams that we got the chance to interview. Sorry we missed a couple of teams due to Wayne's holiday. Below there's a short video to see what the heck Wayne got up to in South Africa. An encounter with an annoyed elephant and something Very Amazing Racey, which is why he did it (Actually it was his kid's idea, she challenged him to do it so he had to step up). We hope Stephane and Antoine, and Kate and Kelly can forgive us for missing them. Listen to the interview here. It was a bit crazy and lots of talking over each other and some mention of Steph's injured finger now looking like a penis but what the heck, the final 3 teams agreed to talk to Gord and Wayne HQ and we had to just let it flow organically. Sure there are some questions but it was a lot of fun. They even predict how quickly Gord and Wayne would be eliminated. Pretty quick it seems. Anyway, enough of this the big interview is below, unedited save for some bits with PR people at the front and back.
Enjoy the interview. There were a dark horse team, a team some folks wrote off as an early elimination but here at Gord and Wayne HQ, we figured out early that one should not take Amy and Frankie for granted. They were also a fun team to watch but unfortunately they became that fun team you liked to watch that was eliminated in the second to last leg. Here we talk to the mother and daughter duo who were up front and honest about the situation with Ashley at the Roadblock, amongst other things.
Find the Amy and Frankie interview here. Now that the non-elims are done, we getting more interviews. Gone this week are Edmonton's own Rita and Yvette. They struggled in the Cuban leg and came into the Cape Breton leg with the prospect of a Speed Bump. Add to that a mistake on the Coast Guard task and being U-Turned by Jillian and Emmett, it was tough for these twins to come back. Still, they had a lot of fun and brought a lot of personality to the race, personality that was always brought to the viewers attention. We met Rita and Yvette at a viewing party here in Edmonton and found them to warm and friendly, although they may have be wary knowing who we were and what kind of stuff we wrote about.
Still, we had a great interview with them. Please forgive the sound quality. There was an issue with our recording (couldn't find the good one so had to use an old one). And the Bell Media PR site seems to be having issues so we weren't able to download any images from the show. But here you go, Rita and Yvette. There was no new episode of Amazing Race Canada this week so at Gord and Wayne HQ, we've sat on this interview with Julie and Lowell just for this moment when there's nothing new. Ha! There is. As you remember, they were eliminated in the most recent leg, the one in Kingston. A sad event because everyone seemed to like Julie and Lowell. In this interview, we talked about their goals for the race, if there were any breakdowns we didn't see and what's with all those puns. As expected, it was a fun interview to do because Julie and Lowell are a couple of fun people. Here's the link to the interview. Anthony Limbombe and Brandon Campeau have the not-so-wonderful honour of being the first elimination team interview at Gord and Wayne HQ for Season 4. Those of you who watched the episode know what happened, know that the boys from Windsor quit the Tram task, hoping that it would take other teams much longer than 4 hours to do the task. However, weather set in, the task was cancelled and the plan didn't work as well as they hoped. It didn't help that Kate and Kelly quit before them but that's how the race sometimes works. We talked with Anthony and Brandon and they filled us in on what happened, how they felt and how Brandon learned a valuable lesson that he promises to remember for the rest of his life. If you want to know the answer, listen to the interview. Also, they were on the race to raise awareness and funds for the medical conditions faced by their bosses niece. They also talk about that but if you want to help, here's the link for the GoFundMe page. Season 4 of Amazing Race Canada is less than one week away, and here at Gord and Wayne HQ, we are off with our guest interviews. In previous seasons, we got the chance to talk to host Jon Montgomery. And while we love to talk to Jon, I think he answered enough of our questions about the race, beer and Blue Robeo, his travelling robe. This season we cast about for someone new to talk to us (Ha). And we got ourselves a great catch with Mike Bickerton, the casting producer of Amazing Race Canada. If you apply for the race, Mike heads the team that looks at all of the videos. All of the videos! And he's the one who decides whether you get a call back. Mike is also the person who makes the final decision on who gets to become racers on Canada's highest rated show of all time. So we were very excited that Mike agreed to talk to us about the race, casting and what's up for Season 4, without spoilers. Much thanks to Mike for say yes as well as to Jessica at CTV/Bellmedia for setting it all up. A lot of the stuff we get about Amazing Race Canada comes from the great folks at CTV/Bellmedia. For a blog like ours to be treated like the regular media is just great and makes our summers that much more interesting. Hopefully, our readers and fans (dare we call you fans?) feel the same way. We're also going to try a new format for our interviews this season. Talking to people involved in the race is so much fun for us. But we really think the rest of you are missing a key part of these interviews, the verbal interactions and the interplay of personalities, when we just transcribe an interview. So we'll be offering an audio link to Wayne's Soundcloud page. It's the easiest and fastest way to get this done, especially this is essentially a hobby for us. So without further ado, here's our interview with Mike Bickerton. It has been edited slightly, but only very slightly, only a minute or two, such as connections in the beginning and a couple of our stumbling questions. If you enjoy this new format, or have any other comments, please make them. And please share with all of your Amazing Race Canada friends. Update: Despite our request to leave comments, you may have noticed that the comment section on this page of the blog has been disabled. Sorry about that but since we got some not so nice comments about a team during last season, we had to take that action. We might open it up again this year, but for now, it's disabled. So maybe leave a comment somewhere else. Thanks. |
InterviewsWe have finally gotten enough readers to actually need a guest page for all of our interviews and guest blogs. At least, we hope we have. We also hope everyone enjoys the new page. Archives
