All teams get on the same plane to Vegas and look for the crazy bald dude. Or a reasonable facsimile thereof. These guys are terse but at least the teams don't have to drive. Couple of teams are still whiny because someone got pushed. Boohoo. But they're driven out of town, obviously to give some mob feel to the whole thing but it's kind of lame. They have to get out and dig. Graves maybe. No, it's not that kind of reality show.
All the teams dig, Big Brother throwing dirt in the other teams holes. Funny. Really annoys the Mormons. But they find the box first. Back into the SUV and take the box to David Copperfield, the magician not the street urchin. Other teams get their boxes and head back to Vegas. They have to figure how to open it. Rachel gets some tools from the back of the car and while Brendon thinks she's lost it, she's onto something. He breaks open the box revealing a large ring of keys.
Over to the MGM Grand to find the clue. Nice joke about Phil's speech being written by David Copperfield. It's a Roadblock. One teammate is locked inside a crate and must unlock their shackles by using the set of keys from the desert box. Then they have to find a set of lock picks outside the crate and then escape. David C. will then give them the next clue. Connor takes the Roadblock cause he had a David C. magic kit.
Jennifer and Rachel are also in. But Dave doesn't have the keys yet. He starts smashing the books and finally gets the keys out. Caroline doesn't have keys either. So they struggle, allowing Big Brother to get ahead of them. While the folks struggle in the box, the other team members watch on a video and are told to push some buttons when it's done. Connor is the first done. And now I'm bored. Even though they are lighting the box on fire, this task drags on way too much. Even though the box seeming drops on the fire with Connor still inside, we know it's a magic trick and they haven't killed him.
And as I said, it's a bit lame. Hope they didn't pay Copperfield too much money for that. So the next clue is to find the Neon Boneyard Museum and search for their clue. Rachel gets unlocked and Brendon is about to get freaked out as the Mormons grab a cab. But Big Brother gets the clue and the third trick is done. Yawn. The Country Singers leave.
The Mormons arrive at the Boneyard, cool place, and start searching. But Big Brother have a bad cab who thinks it's kind of silly that Brendon and Rachel have to win the race in order to have a baby. They do know how babies are made, don't they? The Mormons find the clue box and have to get a lightbulb from a sign and take it to the Mirage Hotel. So they do that. Big Brother are right behind them but don't look behind them. So they don't see the silver and red question mark which has their light bulb. Of course, this would be the perfect place to make some kind of joke about not being bright or whatever. But that's too easy. So they are still looking as the Country Singers pull up. Still, they finally find it and head out. They actually try to steal the girls cab. Big mistake, especially since you already have a cab. Sure, it may be slow but the time they spent trying to steal the cab means Dave and Connor are pulling further ahead. Finally they forget it and go.
At the Mirage, the Mormons can't find the proper entrance so the girls get their first. Man, their cab was awesome. But Big Brother wasted so much time trying to steal it. The girls, and the other teams once they arrive, have to replace all the light bulb in the I of the Mirage sign 30 stories up. The Mormons arrive while Big Brother have a terrible cab. But they make their own mistakes but running past the clue box.
Bulbs are put in while Big Brother are running around the hotel wondering if they should read the clue or not. Sigh. Finale of the season and they still are having trouble reading clues. And after some craziness they finally find their clue. A bit of bickering and blaming happens as they had to do the lights. Insert your own light bulb/brightness joke here. Whoa Brendon really hates to accept responsibility for mistakes. If you're gonna be a dad you have to learn how to do that.
The Mormons pass the girls on the light but get the number of lights wrong. They add one more and get it right. The girls get it correct on their first try so it's a race of window washing platforms down the side of a building. Woohoo, look at them go. So fast. Dave and Connor hit the ground first and have to find Maverick Helicopters. Right behind them are the girls. Big Brother gets the task done and go done. Two team race to the helicopters. More talk about having a baby if Big Brother wins. They wisely get a new cab.
At the helicopters, the Mormons go the wrong way but catch up and pass the girls. They both arrive pretty much the same time. It's another Roadblock. They have to skydive from 10,000 feet, in the dark, wearing what Phil calls a futuristic jumpsuit. In reality, it's just a jumpsuit with a few lights. Like the Copperfield task, the suit's a bit lame. But the task looks fun. They have to fly down the strip, find the sign with their destination, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, tell the info to the pilot who will head there. Then it's a jump to the finish.
Pretty soon all the teams are up, loads of praying going on. Less praying folks, more looking. The Mormons and the Country Singers seem to find the correct answer at the same time so we'll see how close it really is. Although it's pretty obvious Big Brother's gonna be third. Nice dramatic finish with one teammate falling out of the sky. And it's...Dave. Looks like Mormon's are going to win. They do, which was a nice comeback after dropping out of the last one. Good for them. I liked them for the most part. They got a little whiny through some legs but came through. The Country Singers are second, which was pretty good for them. They got some help along the way (especially that Express Pass from the Cowboys in China) but when they played their own game, like in this leg, they did well. Brendon and Rachel are third so they have to wait on having the baby when he graduates. Wonder why, didn't she win some money from Big Brother, I mean... agh, never mind. I'm just gonna forget it.
That's it for Season 24. It was a solid season, some great stuff, too much time in Europe and a meh final leg, but still, it had some nice drama, especially in the beginning. Thanks everyone for tuning into our blog. It's been fun. We'll have the final video up in a day or so. And we'll both be taking a break from blogging about TAR until The Amazing Race Canada hits the airwaves on July 8. Can't wait for that. See ya till then.
