After two weeks away, we got back together to discuss the final episode of TAR Season 24. It was a fun season, although the final episode was one of the weakest legs of the whole season. Congrats to the winning team and to those who got another chance to run The Amazing Race. And see you all in July when we return to discuss Season 2 of The Amazing Race Canada. Sorry folks, I know it's been two weeks since you've seen our friendly faces, but circumstances prevent Gord and I from getting together. He's been on vacation and is just heading back. Probably in the air as I write. Unless he's still stuck in Dallas due to weather. And I'm in the Rocky Mountains on a writing retreat. I know I should be writing my novel, but I have to write fight scene next and those are tough. Lots of choreography of me jumping around, going through the motions of the fight as I write. We will return for a recap of the final episode. Instead, I'm presenting you with a poll. Self-explanatory really so I'll leave it at that. As we mentioned in last week's video, there is a strong possibility that there will be no video this week. Gord is on vacation for a couple of weeks. Look for him in the Orlando, Florida area. You can't miss him, he's just over 6'7", grumpily standing in line for a ride, or searching for a beer. Also listen for his laugh (it's been heard on a number of our videos; it's pretty distinctive).
There was talk that I might do one on my own but the flu has hit our house so no time for that. And I'll be leaving for a weeklong writing retreat (gotta finish the next novel). So look for me in Banff. I'll be the disheveled, unshaven guy at the Banff Centre of the Arts writing on his laptop in the bar. But just in case I find the time and the flu goes away, I might find sometime to do a quickie video. Here we are, talking about the whining teams, Swiss Mustangs and how the Afghanimals are playing a great game, quietly manipulating the other teams in their "accidental alliance." Be advised that this will be our last video for a couple weeks. Gord is heading out on vacation while I will be on a writer's retreat working on my next novel. I might do a solo video next week, but that all depends on my time. But we will be back in time for the final two episodes at least. This time we're a day late. That's because Easter Monday is considered a holiday where we live and our kids were home from school. And since we're both stay-at-home dads, that prevented us from getting together to do the video. Also, Gord still has strep throat so he's been a bit out of commission. Still, we fought through that and here we are. In the past few videos, Gord and I have lamented the fact that the Globetrotters have been coasting, not taking the race seriously. Any comments on that? We're back with our video recap of Episode 7. We talk about the Eternal City, speak the gladiator salute, laugh about gentlemanly behaviour and wonder about the Globetrotters . And other stuff about the teams rushing through Rome. Keats would have been proud. Pleased be advised that due to the Country Music Awards, there was be no Amazing Race episode this week. And such, there will be no video recaps from Gord and me. Although the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 4 was cool. And next week, Mad Men returns!
Here we are about halfway through Season 24 and another video recap. I'm still feeling the effects of a bad cold and lack of sleep so I didn't spend much time editing our video. Although I think we did pretty good. It was a very exciting episode so that makes it easier to talk about. Normally we do these video recaps at my house in one take. Then Gord and I go for lunch and when I come back, I edit them. Then I cook supper. Gord probably cooks supper, too cause, like me, he's a stay at home dad and artist. I'm no expert at editing video but heck, we do this for fun because we love TAR. We also talk about each episode of TAR anyway so why not include those conversations in our blog. Here were are, a little late, but here's our Episode 5 recap. No cats appear this week but no stuffies have been harmed in any of these videos. That cannot be said for Gord. Man, that bash on his toe looked like it really hurt. Normally we do these in one take, editing a few seconds of conversational stumbles, but this time the video card ran out of space halfway through. So we had to start from that spot. Seemed to go well though. We're much faster this week with our video recap. Again, this one features an appearance of Furdosi the Cat plus some DJ scratching and confusion about women's hosiery. We don't understand why Rachel was wearing panty hose then again, we're men and don't understand if it makes sense to wearing panty hose the way she did. |
