We join the remaining houseguests right after Arisa comments on why they're on early tonight to allow for the season finale of Survivor. Hopefully you've already read my blog review on that. After this episode there will be more members of the jury than there will be houseguests. Quick rollback to the end of the PoV ceremony and it's Day 60 in the house.
Sarah really didn't have much choice in putting Pilar up against Zach but up in the bedroom Zach, Pilar and Ashleigh are discussing the stupidity of their alliance name. Comparing their alliance to a full diaper that needs to be changed. Yeah, that's a pretty picture. Pilar needs to step up her social game if she wants to outlast Zach in the house.
Heading out to the hot tub room across the yard Brittnee and Sarah are looking a bit depressed. They both know that Zach's PoV speech was directed at Godfrey to let him know that he's going after Sarah and Brittnee if he stays in the house. That would prove to be bad for both of them but the tension rises when Zach shows up for a dip in the tub.
It's the morning of Day 61 and Pilar asks Godfrey how he's feeling. Godfrey says it's a lot different feeling not being on the block. Sarah is really nervous having Godfrey as the swing vote because she's sure that Ashleigh is going to vote to keep Zach. She's upstairs eavesdropping on Godfrey and Pilar and overhears him say that he won't vote her out, but things change. Uh oh.
Pilar asks Godfrey how she looks up in the HoH room while they're lounging about with Sarah and Brittnee and he says she looks good before she wanders back out. If I were the HoH I'd lock my door and keep them all out. Pilar is driving Sarah crazy with her lack of gameplay but she's more worried about what Zach is up to. She hopes he's just spending quality time with Ashleigh but Godfrey assumes he's just reeling her in. They all figure Zach is just playing Ashleigh in order to stay in the house. Maybe.
Ashleigh knows that she has a big decision coming up and she's going to feel guilty either way. She feels she can beat Pilar in the end but Zach can help get her to the end. Decisions, decisions. Zach joins Brittnee in the have-not room for the night and it's time for him to work his magic. He tells Brittnee that once he's gone she's the next big target in the house and that stresses her out. He wants to swing her vote and assures her that if he stays and wins the next HoH that he wouldn't put her up and neither would Ashleigh.
His goal is to get Sarah and Godfrey on the block and if he can get Brittnee paranoid enough she may keep him in the house. It's not like she's going to put Sarah on the block. Zach tells Brittnee he can't take Ashleigh to final two or she'll win and that, at some point, Brittnee is going to need to cut Sarah loose to get to the end. He's hoping she'll let him do the dirty work for her and he'll still be a target in the house ahead of her.
Time to get started on that double eviction as Arisa says it's time to get to the vote. She gives Pilar first shot at pleading her case and Pilar thanks everyone for the experience and knows they'll vote for what's best for their game. Zach gets up and says that over the past 63 days they've built a family and he's learned so much about connecting with others but at the end of the day it's just a game and he understands that.
Time to vote and Brittnee is up first in the Diary room. Brittnee votes to evict Zach, Godfrey votes to evict Zach, and Ashleigh votes to evict Zach. A hard decision for her but it is the best decision for her game. Time to tell Pilar the good news. Zach gives everyone a big hug and Pilar is more teary-eyed than Ashleigh over the decision. Zach grabs his stuff and heads out to meet Arisa.
On stage Arisa is welcomed with a lot of cheers and Arisa asks if that's a tear she sees forming. Zach says it's an emotional thing being in and evicted from the house. She asked about his heartfelt speech and he admits that he knew they were voting him out and he wanted to give an honest speech to go out on. When Arisa asks what sunk him in the house he admits that once he realized that everyone was afraid to sit beside him in the end he had no choice but to keep winning. Kinda like Mike over on Survivor. Arisa asks if it hurt knowing that Ashleigh voted to evict him and Zach admits that Ashleigh is a great girl and he does care about her but holds no grudge. Zach picks Sarah to win in the end and we'll see how that plays out in the finale next week.
Time to break the double-eviction news to the houseguests and send them into the backyard for the next HoH challenge. The four competing houseguests each have a table-maze in the shape of a spider web and they need to get their fly from the edge of the web to the exit at the center of the maze and then hit the buzzer to be the next HoH.
Brittnee is just flying (ha ha) through this competition but it's not as easy as it looks. Pilar is close to the center before having to go back but . . . Brittnee finds the right path and is again the new HoH. Arisa sends them all back into the livingroom for an instant nomination. This is the second time that Brittnee has been put in this situation and she nominates Ashleigh and Pilar. What a surprise.
Over in the jury house Kevin is hanging up a "Welcome to Jury" banner and Willow is icing a cake. Kevin really hopes its not Pilar, hopefully because he wants her to win and not just to avoid their showmance. Bobby is busy whipping up some grilled cheese sandwiches while chatting with Willow. They're starting to get a little bored waiting until Bruno arrives in the house. Sindy was sure he was going to win so that was a big shock.
Bruno relates how Brittnee's superpower had him from ready to play to out the door in under five minutes. When Willow finds out that Sarah voted her out she's devastated and the tears are flowing again. Bobby is right there to console her and Kevin as a fan loved the move but was pretty shocked because Sarah and Willow were so close. Willow feels betrayed and she's really pissed. Next Wednesday I'm thinking that's one vote Sarah isn't going to get.
Time for the PoV challenge. All five houseguests are competing and we join them in the backyard lying on mechanic's dollies. They need to fill up their jar of oil until they can reach the ball inside and then race back to hit their buzzer. Sounds simple enough. Go!
Pilar starts strong with Ashleigh right behind her. Godfrey, true to form, is taking his time. So apparently is Brittnee for some reason. Back and forth they roll retrieving cans of oil then back to their jar. Pilar is trying to grab her ball but losing valuable time and Ashleigh has won the Power of Veto. Arisa congratulates her and sends them all back to the livingroom. Arisa needs to know immediately if Ashleigh is going to use the PoV and if so, on whom.
It's no surprise that Ashleigh uses the PoV on herself and that forces Brittnee to choose a replacement. This would be a great time for her to get rid of Sarah but Brittnee just doesn't have it in her to stab an ally in the back like Sarah does and Brittnee puts up Godfrey as the replacement. Depending on how the vote goes it could be all girls in the end.
Just before the vote Arisa gives Pilar a chance to plead her case and she says that she loves them all and knows it's a game and . . . well, she kinda rambles. Now it's Godfrey's turn and he compliments Pilar and her heart of gold and says that he understands it's all a game but if they want to sit next to someone they can beat in the end it's him because he's done nothing all season. A valid point.
Time to vote and there could be a tie. Ashleigh votes to evict Godfrey, Sarah votes to evict Pilar and it's now up to Brittnee. Arisa announces the tie and asks Brittnee to stand and break the tie. Brittnee votes to evict Pilar. Damn. Pilar takes it well and gives everyone a hug then heads out, leaving Ashleigh in tears. Small ones, but still.
Arisa welcomes Pilar to the stage and gets a big hug. Pilar is way too excited. Arisa was so sure that Pilar had the PoV and Pilar admits she blew it trying to get the ball out too soon but she played her best. Pilar is a little shocked to be out of the house and wasn't ready for a "double" tonight. Arisa comments that Pilar started out on the block, then was safe for so long thanks to her alliance but the last few weeks has been back on the block and wonders how that feels. Pilar admits that being on the block is scary and you're always nervous because you can't trust what anyone says.
Pilar is really proud of Ashleigh because she's a fighter and nobody talks bad about her in the house. Pilar is definitely rooting for Ashleigh to win. Arisa reminds Pilar that she's now on her way to the jury house and she'll get to see Kevin again and wonders how real that is. Pilar is sure Kevin won't be happy to see her in jury because he wanted to see her at the end and that they're great friends and will keep that no matter what and . . . "So it's a friendship," says Arisa on the side and Pilar laughs. She has a great laugh and a great attitude as she races off to the jury house.
That's it for this episode. Apparently there are still a few surprises to come before next week's big finale. I'll be here to let you know how those surprises play out starting on Sunday/Monday and then back again to see who wins Big Brother Canada. See you on the weekend.
