With the upcoming U-Turn Nicole & Travis are thinking of U-Turning the Afghanimals, who can't use the U-Turn since they used it previously on Brandon & Adam. Tim & Marie are behind them and a little concerned that Jason & Amy will U-Turn them. Meanwhile Jason misses another turn and Amy is starting to get a little irritated in the back. When the IceQueens get to the Explorers they get stuck deciphering the code, but not for long, just long enough for the Bunnies to get theirs. They've decided they're no longer Bunnies, they're Ninjas. All in all everybody figured out the coin challenge pretty quickly and were all on their way out to the dunes.
Leo & Jamal were in their dune buggy and off to follow the flags into the desert with Travis & Nicole right behind them, but Travis & Nicole get stuck in the dunes allowing Leo & Jamal to get the next clue before they did. Teams must now return to their Ford Explorers and drive themselves to the Al Ain Oasis where they need to find a palm tree with a clue at the top and then retrieve that clue.
Eventually everyone is racing back out of the dunes and heading to the Al Ain Oasis. Nicole & Travis arrive first and one of the locals climbs up the tree for the next clue, this week's . . . Detour: Wedding Guests; prepare a traditional ceremonial dish using the appropriate ingredients and present it to the head chef who will have them add it to a large pot before giving them the completed dish to present to the bridal party for their next clue, or . . . Beauty Contest; pick a beautiful camel based on a set of scoring guidelines, then dress it, groom it and present it to the judges who will decide if their ability to pick a winner is up to par before giving them the next clue. Since Wayne and I have both taken over a lot of the cooking in our homes I'm pretty sure we'd both pick the Wedding Guests task. All you need to be able to do is read a recipe and slice food.
Jason has managed to get himself lost again on the way to the oasis, but Travis & Nicole have had no problem and decide that this is a good time to use their Express Pass and receive their next clue without wasting any time on the Detour. Good call as this pretty much guarantees that they're first to the U-Turn and because the Afghanimals lied earlier when asked directly about using the U-Turn in leg five, they've decided to U-Turn Leo & Jamal if they get there first.
Leo & Jamal find the oasis about the same time as Tim & Marie and Jamal wonders why it took them so long. They decide to complete the Wedding Guests task while Tim & Marie decide to pick their beauty. Pinky is actually pretty good for this task as she seems to be really keen on details. Besides, would you really want her yelling at Tim while she's holding a knife?
When Travis & Nicole get to the Double U-Turn they do indeed use the U-Turn on the Afghanimals. They receive their next clue, drive themselves to the Wadi Adventure to find their next clue. It's all about the clues. That and being able to read a map which apparently Jason has some trouble with but they managed to find the oasis and get their clue from the palm tree. They decide to do the Beauty Contest as Amy competed in beauty pageants for 13 years and feels she can pick a winner.
Travis & Nicole, having skipped the Detour entirely are now first to arrive at the Wadi Adventure and the Roadblock; the world's longest man-made whitewater rapids ride to collect three different coloured flags. Nicole decides to do this Roadblock, which is rated as a class four, but unfortunately Nicole is finding herself a little short for the flags and has missed the first two lines. Good thing she has plenty of time.
Ally & Ashley finally arrive to get the Detour clue, followed closely by Nicky & Kim, and both teams decide to try the Beauty Contest. Tim & Marie hand in their second beauty and the judges agree and they get their next clue to find the Al Jahili Tower. As they race about the grounds they actually ran right past the location but never went inside. They do however find find Leo & Jamal prepping food for the Wedding Guests side of the Detour. When the Afghanimals realize that their task is obviously taking too long they decide to switch tasks, unaware they've been U-Turned already and are just going to have to return to this task again.
Jason & Amy failed on their first attempt when their camel decided to roll about in the sand but they get the judge's approval on their second camel and get their next clue. While Tim & Marie are now outside the grounds Tim thinks they may need their packs so they run back to grab them before running off without them only to find they need them.
As Jason & Amy drive off in search of the Wadi Rapids they see Tim & Marie still running around on foot looking for their next clue, outside of the fort and over a half mile away from where they dressed the camels. This doesn't look good for Pinky but Jason is pretty happy with how karma works out.
Tim & Marie finally find someone who speaks enough English who tells them they need to go back to the Al Jahili Fort. The tower they're looking for is right there. You can't miss it. Well, obviously they can. So much for her attention to details. Speaking of details, the IceQueens and Bunnies are still trying to find the Al Jahili Fort.
After an enjoyable drive along the 21 curves as they climb above the desert Travis & Nicole are Team Number 1 and also each win their choice of any vehicle in Fords new Eco-Boost lineup, which includes the Explorer or the Fusion, or the Focus and much more. Phil asks them why they U-Turned the Afghanimals and they explain their reason in regards to how they had denied using the last U-Turn on the Beardos. Nicole feels they're running an honest game and everyone else should too. So far that's been working for her but I'm not sure how much longer she can keep running that honest game.
Tim & Marie make their way back to the fort and Marie is pissed that Tim had her carrying her backpack for the last hour running around outside the fort. She's pretty angry and wants to punch him but I'd have just told her it builds stamina. When they get to the Double U-Turn they decide to U-Turn the Bunnies just because Marie was still mad that they had managed to get on a standby list and cut in front of them at the airport in leg 3. That, or she's just transferring her anger with Tim to Nicky & Kim.
When they finally arrive at the Detour the IceQueens choose to do the Beauty Contest while the Bunnies, who initially were also doing the Beauty Contest, decide to switch and do the Wedding Guest task. When they find their station they also find Leo & Jamal who say they've only been there for 10-15 minutes but they're almost done. Nobody believes these two anymore. They're like the boy who cried wolf and eventually that may come back to bite them just like the wolf did.
Jason seems to be having a blast on the whitewater task and completes his flag gathering just as Tim arrives. Back at the fort Leo & Jamal finish their food task and they're off. Then Nicky & Kim complete theirs and are off only to find they've been U-Turned by Tim & Marie. The Bunnies think that Tim & Marie are just mean, but really it's just Marie.
The Bunnies quickly complete the Beauty Contest side of the Detour and are now off to the rapids, while the IceQueens appear to have gotten lost on the way. That's a good sign for the Bunnies, who still have a SpeedBump to perform and could use a little luck right about now, but not so much for Ally & Ashley who are having trouble reading the map.
Eventually the IceQueens stop to get help and Tim & Marie are now Team Number 3. They say they didn't want to see the Bunnies go but they were still angry about the airport issue. Leo & Jamal arrive at the Wadi Adventure and Jamal gets a chance to cool off. Ally & Ashley finally locate the rapids and head in while right behind them the Bunnies encounter their . . . SpeedBump; make your way across a pool with a six foot deep wave and climb out the other side. Easy enough except that Kim is afraid of heights and Nicky doesn't like to swim and that's a pretty big pool. Add in some impressive waves for a desert and it's beginning to look like the end of Nicky & Kim.
Leo & Jamal complete the whitewater ride and are Team Number 4, and Ally & Ashley run in right behind them to be Team Number 5. When Phil notes their on race affecction he asks if there's a possibility of anything outside the race and the Afghanimals say the girls are their race wives but they all just kind of laugh it off. Doesn't one of the girls already have a boyfriend? Hmm.
In the end, despite all their efforts, Nicky & Kim are Team Number 6 and the last team to arrive. Phil expected to see them crying but they took it well and are ready to hop off into the blazing sunset as Bunnies and not Ninjas. That whole Ninja idea wasn't really working for them an
Next week the remaining five teams leave the United Arab Emirates and are off for Indonesia where the rivalry between the the ERDocs and Afghanimals comes to a head and Nicole finds herself undone by a task. When she tries to see what Leo is doing right he'll have none of that and does all he can to avoid helping her out. Why do I think that's just going to help the other three teams move ahead. I guess we'll all see next week.
