If TARC, Insight and CTV keep offering the same kind of characters I’ve seen in previous seasons (military, first responders, cops, elite athletes, persons with past or present medical issues/tragedy), plus two teams with a direct connection to a flailing Bellmedia property (The Argos), and try to pass it off as a fresh and special season, they are really making it hard for me to get excited for Season 6. A Heroes Edition isn't a new thing for TAR Canada; it's just them going all-in on a casting format they've been using since Day 1. Despite Jon saying the fans would be surprised about how heroes would be defined by the show, we knew we were going to get these kinds of characters. Sure, some great teams have come out of those hero-type teams from previous season, but it's hard to get enthused when they're dipping into an over-used well and trying to pass it off as a new and improved drink.
I’ll watch the show when it airs on July 3 and hope I’m proven wrong and pleasantly surprised by how Season 6 turns out, the way I was by TAR Seasons 29 and 30, a show I and other fans had written off as stale following a spate of bad seasons. I hope, I really do hope Season 6 of TARC will be a fun and exciting season. I really do. But I'm skeptical. And a bit sad. Cause it's hard seeing one of your favourite shows strap on those water skis, put a life vest over their leather jacket and head over to the shark enclosure.
Update: According to reliable sources, the 10 teams in Season 6 come from only three provinces: four from Alberta, four from Ontario, two from BC. I know it's hard to get a team from every province, but that's gonna piss people off, especially those from the other 7 provinces.
